Grooming Policies
At Michael’s Barkery, your pet is very important to us and we would like to assure you that every effort will be made to ensure your pet’s grooming experience is safe and as pleasant as possible. Safety comes first for everyone – people as well as the animals – during the grooming process.
Aging and Special Needs Pets
The stress of grooming may result in immediate or latent medical issues including death particularly in older dogs or dogs prone to stress. Michael’s Barkery will take responsible care of your pet and the owner agrees not to hold Michael’s Barkery responsible for any medical effects resulting from grooming services.
Accidents
Although accidents are very rare, there is a risk when dealing with animals. Grooming equipment is sharp, and although we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quickening of nails, strains etc. In most cases this can happen when an animal is wiggling or moving around. Your pet's safety and comfort is our number one priority. In the event an accident occurs, the owner will be notified of the accident. If the accident is serious, we will handle it as an Emergency as outlined below.
Appointments
The owner agrees to be on time for their apointment. If the owner is more than 15 minutes late it may become necessary to reschedule the appointment. However, every effort will be made to accommodate depending on how "full" the schedule is on the day of the appointment. If the appointment results in a cancellation/reschedule the "Cancellation Fee" will apply.
Cancellations & No Show Policy
Cancellations made less than 48 hours of scheduled appointment time or does not show for their scheduled appointment will be subject to a service fee of 50% of scheduled services and will need to be paid in advance of your next appointment. Exceptions for emergencies will be considered on an individual basis.

Pre-existing Conditions
Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. This can occur during or after grooming. Please make sure to alert us of any current or past issues so that we can provide the best and safest care possible for your pet. Michael’s Barkery will not be held responsible for any pre-existing conditions discovered during grooming. The owner also understands that grooming can aggravate pre-existing conditions that the pet may have including but not limited to heart disease, seizure disorders and arthritis.
Safety
The owner is responsible for informing Michael’s Barkery of any behavioral issues a pet may have including but not limited to aggressive tendencies, biting or being dog aggressive. If owner fails to notify us of any potential danger or behavioral issue, the owner will be liable for all medical fees, out of work compensation, as well as any and all property damage. We will make every effort to groom uncooperative pets, however, if we believe the pet or groomers are at risk Michael’s Barkery reserves the right to refuse grooming services or to stop grooming services at any time to protect the health and safety of the groomer or pet. A soft muzzle may be used for both the safety of the groomer and pet.
