The nutrition we give our dogs to fuel their everyday activities is incredibly important, but with so many options available, it can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task to choose a healthy dog food. It is important to educate yourself on your dog's needs and the ingredients in each brand that can aid in fueling those needs. Look for whole food ingredients on the label, such as: lamb, quinoa, squash, and eggs, and avoid foods with artificial ingredients, colorants, and by-products. At Michael’s Barkery we carry two brands of dry dog food: Unrefined and Victor; both of which contain no by-products or artificial colorants and flavorings.
Unrefined dry food is a brand that focuses on picking “superfoods” for their products that, when combined, pack serious nutrition for your dog. One of Unrefined’s most prominent ingredients is their “ancient grains”. Ancient grains are grains that have had minimal changes by selective breeding over thousands of years. Some scientists say these grains are what our dogs would have fed on before they became domesticated. The ancient grains in Unrefined can range from quinoa to buckwheat, and they are beneficial for adding protein and fiber into your dog’s diet.
Victor has a wide variety of protein options for your dog, which is great if you have a dog with allergies. Victor also accommodates the needs of different breeds and activity levels with specially made formulas such as: performance, active puppy, and senior dog formulas. Victor is a food that is appropriate for all life stages.
Picking the right food can be challenging but, we are here to help you choose which of our foods is best for your pup to be happy and healthy!
